Do you know what it means to be saved? If you or a loved one died today, do you know what would happen? Where would you, or they, spend eternity? You can know for sure! The Bible tells us.
Grab your Bible and let's take a walk down the Roman Road and see what it says. If you don't have a Bible, please call Brother Gary and he'll be more than happy to bring you one and visit a while to help you become acquainted with it.
First, we need to understand that we're all sinners, we're born that way. Even good people are sinners in God's eyes until, well we'll get to that in a minute.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Sin has a penalty, just like actions have a consequence.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
So, we deserve death, but God has given us a gift, a way to escape that death, through Jesus. How?
Romans 5:8-9 But God commandeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
So, Jesus died for our sins. His blood has taken away our sin penalty. We just have to believe.
Romans 10:9-10 That if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved. For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Do you believe? Do you know that you can be sure you are saved?
1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Don't worry about losing it, you are in God's hands now.
John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
